ABOUT ME - SUZANNE HARPER FROM FENG SHUI WEST COUNTRY
Hello, and welcome to Feng Shui West Country. My name is Suzanne Harper and I’m delighted that you are interested in finding out more about my favourite subject - Feng Shui.
I have always been curious about that actually works to make life better for people - initially regarding their health. With an extensive background in alternative medicine, I initially qualified in naturopathy and osteopathy before winning a scholarship to study acupuncture. This knowledge has been very helpful in terms of feng shui as the rules of acupuncture and those of feng shui are similar. Of course, the practical application differs. Also helpful is my practice of Chi Kung (similar to Tai Chi) which is about drawing on the energies of the natural world around us and circulating these energies in the bod for health and vitality. Learning NLP and hypnosis gives me an awareness of the symbolic meanings of the everyday objects we all have around us, subtly influencing us on an unconscious level. I believe that one of the ways feng shui works is by harnessing the power of the unconscious mind in a positive way.
Although I had heard about feng shui, it was only after a disastrous house move that I was motivated to find out more about it. Having finally succeeded in selling my house after the recession at the beginning of the 90’s, I assumed, wrongly, that just making a logical move would be fine. My son was going off to a sound engineering course in North West London, and it made sense, or so I thought, to just move to be near the college. What I didn’t expect was the 3-month run of bad luck that followed. My career as an osteopath had been going well. Suddenly, my practice shrank almost overnight. My income dropped and money was draining out of my bank account at a rate of knots. As a single mother, I had a pro-active and positive approach to dating. Overnight, this area of my life just wasn’t working. Finally, it occurred to me that it might be something to do with the flat I had moved into that might be working against me. I asked around, and at that time, no one knew anyone who was knowledgeable about feng shui. A few weeks after this, a flyer dropped on my doormat advertising a 1-day feng shui workshop at the East West Centre in London. It had to be worth a try, and certainly, looking back, attending this workshop was one of the best decisions I ever made.
What absolutely fascinated me was that individuals would go up to the teacher, William Spear, show him their floor plans and he would then, without knowing them, correctly assess what was going on in their lives. The knowledge that I took away from the workshop allowed me to turn my life around again in 3 weeks. Little did I know before I made the move that I had chosen a place:
1) with no Fortunate Blessings Area (relates to capital finance and for women the men in her life),
2) a dark cramped career area and
3) put my teenage son in the power position in the flat.
As if this wasn’t enough, I had also moved in the worse possible direction from my previous home - a move “against the energy of the year”. There is a saying that “a little learning is a dangerous thing”. This was my experience when I became over-enthusiast about making changes in the flat and things started to go wrong again. It became apparent to me that feng shui was a more complex than I had originally thought and so I wasted no time and called my teacher in for a consultation. This restored the balance again, and I have been hooked on feng shui ever since.
Now, with more than 25 years’ experience using feng shui, I can offer my clients a truly bespoke service. I favour an integrated approach using form and compass school feng shui with flying star methods, including dowsing for geopathic stress and vortex earth energies - important to be aware of when anyone has chronic health issues. I always explain to my clients why I am asking them to make adjustments to their surroundings, and how it relates to the changes they want in their lives. There is usually more than one way, and often several ways that can work, and often low-cost solutions to fit most budgets.
As a re-location specialist using feng shui, I can offer advice to make settling in to your new home or office an easier and quicker process,
so that you have positive experiences from Day 1.
I hope you are inspired to find out more.
Wishing you health, wealth and happiness always,
Suzanne
